I'm on winter break-- a beautiful time full of eating, sleeping in, staying up late, working out, and catching up on various things like work and friendships. My last grad class is over (yesssssssss) and all I have to do is write my capstone, which is actually turning into a thesis. That's all... haha. I should be done in April.
Another thing I get to do on my break is blog for a few days. Maybe if I can balance work and capstone/thesis writing next semester you'll see a few more? Only time will tell. I miss blogging.
This 2012 reflective post is actually dedicated to the orthopedic surgeon who in 2008 didn't treat me like an athlete even though I asked him to, told me that I should never run again, and told me that I should "consider fast walking and losing a little weight."
Thanks, dude. I don't know if he was using reverse psychology to whip me into shape or if he was just a douche. Well, guess what douche bag?
It took a few years for me to rebuild my shattered self-esteem, Mr. Fancy-Pants Surgeon, but I'm in excellent shape now. My next season of triathlon training is starting soon and I could probably beat you in any swim, bike, or run. The next time I need any work done on my knee or any part of my body I will be extremely demanding and annoying until I get what I want-- thanks to you.
Last January, I signed up for a few indoor triathlons and I followed this plan to prepare. I'd never done a triathlon before and with the encouragement of a good workout buddy and an easy plan, I was on my way to an awesome summer. Not to be a cliche, but if I can do it, anyone can do it.
2012: The year I got fit. I feel better than I felt when I was 20. Turning 30 this year should be pretty cool. Let's cross our fingers that nothing happens to my knees so I don't have to have an attitude with a surgeon.
Happy 2013, people!

Look, I know it's late, but I hope you have a shining 2013 and that you use every douchebag to motivate you before you let them depress you.
